What joy
would it be;
if I were able to
go to heaven?
What bliss
would feel like;
if I could
go to heaven?
But you see
there are angels
here on earth too;
You need
pure eyes
to spot them,
You need
to open your heart
to be able to love them,
They came down
upon this earth
to help us cleanse our sins;
they are truly special
for they carry in their hearts
a piece of heaven,
Perhaps one day
I will find a place
in such an angel’s heart;
She will teach me
the meaning
of selfless love;
you see it’s truly an art;
Perhaps
I may never
go to heaven,
nor find a way
into her heart;
But even if
in her thoughts
I could be;
I would find
true bliss
in my heart!
– Advaita Inamdar
Having not posted something over that past two weeks, I would like to apologize for being lost in my own thoughts and gotten busy with the banality of my work. However, I felt like I should share something about what makes me ponder quite often. That is Bliss. What really makes me happy? The answer to that question changes over a period of time is what I’ve come to notice. But how does one achieve bliss?
“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
― Joseph Campbell
That quote does make it sound quite simple. But how do I define bliss? What makes me happy is still quite unclear to be honest. I think most of us wonder about this question, “What makes me happy?” And I believe doing whatever is fun makes me happy; it’s just that simple I feel sometimes.
“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”
― Dale Carnegie
But that’s not entirely true, is it? Doing something is fun for a while, but one does get bored with it eventually. That’s the real truth, only thing permanent is change. You can’t have fun all the time and that just sucks big time.
“My God, a moment of bliss. Why, isn’t that enough for a whole lifetime?”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, White Nights
The whole problem stems from the fact that we as humans are never satisfied. The mind always keeps wandering from thought to thought, idea to idea. Perhaps practicing a little meditation is required on a daily basis. Just to calm the turbulent waters that flow through our minds continuously and to find a little peace amongst the chaos of our fast paced lives. Maybe I’ll start meditating everyday from today, let’s see where that takes me.
“It’s good to be just plain happy, it’s a little better to know that you’re happy; but to understand that you’re happy and to know why and how and still be happy, be happy in the being and the knowing, well that is beyond happiness, that is bliss.”
― Henry Miller
So, while this post began as a simple poem it has taken a completely different direction altogether. Being philosophical and pondering about the meaning of life is a bit of an ancestral genetic problem, but I’m going to stop before any of you get bored and run for the hills! 😛
With this post I also wanted to thank all of you my dear fellow bloggers, for all the love you have shown and all the wonderful conversations we have shared over the past four months. When I started my blog exactly 4 months back, I would have never imagined that there would be over 400 people following it and that I would receive 3,250+ views and 1,250+ visitors!
I’m truly thankful for all the love and the fact that all of you take the time to read and share your thoughts with me. I truly appreciate all my blogger friends here, because reading your blogs, comments and thoughts really makes me happy every single time! I’m really happy to have made so many wonderful friends and I look forward to exchanging many more fascinating conversations with all of you in the future too.
Cheers, your bliss seeking blogger friend Advaita 🙂

But you already got a place in such an angel’s heart..who preaches selfless love – your mother!
They are the best examples of selfless love isn’t it? We don’t need heaven to enjoy that bliss..atleast I feel so!

True that! I suppose no one can love selflessly like a mother can. I agree with you totally. Thanks for a different perspective on my poem 😊💕

That’s beautiful, A. The poem and your pondering. I think one of the way to be truly happy, is to be grateful for everything you have. Gratefulness and mindfulness lead to happiness. And I think meditation is a wonderful thing. Glad to see you. 🙂 ❤

Hey Vic, I’m glad you liked both the poem and my thoughts. I agree with you, being grateful is certainly the key. We tend to lose sight of that at times! Always happy to hear your thoughts Vic 😊💕

I love your poetry and the message within, i can remember when I was younger I could never find the right and special someone, then I had a dream, where an Angel told me to love another you must first love God…so i prayed and turned to God believing the words of the Angel, then the angel came back to me and said now forgive yourself and you will be healed within your heart,, as I thought about that I cried and forgave myself, and I felt a healing within me. And then I prayed to God to find me a wife, one he would choose and not me. Thank was October 1976, And He asked me to follow Him, and I humbled myself and left my parents home just believing I would go where he lead me. Six months later I met my wife to be another state not searching for anyone but waiting on God to bring her into my life, my brother. And we were married in less than three months later…God chooses wisely and gave me a woman after his own heart…selfless, genuine, and loving. And the romance continues 39 years later, and she still inspires my heart to write and share. God made me complete in my soul, my spirit, which allowed me to love everyone, the way he does. Your thoughts, your words are always inspiring. Here is the first poem I wrote after praying to God my brother….
“Alone”
Sometimes I feel so crazy now
Especially at night so very alone
My heart and soul feel so empty
As my thoughts seem to roam
It seems entirely different these days
How my mistakes I seem to repeat
Whenever I lead with my emotions
Not really evaluating what my eyes see
It seems I become more uneasy now
No longer sure If I should take a chance
As it seems each time I lead with my heart
It always ends in another broken romance
So I think i’ll hold still for the present
Placing my faith in God that I will not slip
And the wife whom I have asked him for
Will come into my life with a lasting bliss.
Have a beautiful day my brother, and may
God choose a selfless loving, genuine jewel
to complete your life..
