Beauty

The kind of beauty that one cannot describe,

The kind of woman who is quite hard to find,

Once you’ve seen her you must surely be blind,

If you cannot grasp that she is only one of her kind;

Her eyes are like fires blazing hotter than hell,

Her eyes shine brighter than any stars in the night sky,

Once you’ve looked into them you’d find it hard to die,

She’ll fill you with passionate desires that make your heart fly;

Her lips are like a stairway leading straight into heaven,

Her lips seemed like they were made for me to sneak a kiss,

Soft as clouds on a rainy day their moist touch one cannot miss,

As she speaks they move like poetry creating desires hard to dismiss;

Her heart and love is but a different story,

Her heart belongs to not me but some other male,

Thus life is quite tragic and not a dreamy fairytale,

Love was but a casualty and heartbreak made me pale;

She keeps on writing and I can’t resist the urge to read,

She has me holding on I’ve tied a knot at the end of the rope,

And so I wonder if I’ve lost it because I’m not high on some dope,

Perhaps that will be the end of me an overdose of optimism and hope.

Returning to my blog after a long vacation from WordPress, more than two years actually since my last post! How time flies, one does not realize. So, as my first post as I return home I’ve decided to write about a subject everyone can share their thoughts about and that subject is beauty. Since I’ve been away for so long, this post might get a little long also in part due to all the lovely quotes I have collected and would like to share with you all.

“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.”

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Beauty is something we can relate to in a multitude ways, depending mainly on where we are in our journey of life. And while there are many views relating to beauty, it is heartbreak that I’m leaning towards while writing this post today.

And I don’t mean that heartbreak is beautiful, it can be poetic perhaps; but it is certainly not beautiful. But I’ve found that the cause of heartbreak is always beautiful; it may be tragic but it is always beautiful. Why? Because if you fell in love, it means you found beauty, in a person, a relationship, or in the little things that everyone else fails to notice.

Whatever it may be, it is certainly an undeniable fact that love is always beautiful.

“When we meet someone and fall in love, we have a sense that the whole universe is on our side. And yet if something goes wrong, there is nothing left! How is it possible for the beauty that was there only minutes before to vanish so quickly? Life moves very fast. It rushes from heaven to hell in a matter of seconds.”

– Paulo Coelho, Eleven Minutes

You may never get an opportunity again to even speak to someone you once deeply cared for, but you will never forget how beautiful they were, what they meant to you and especially how they made you feel.

Sometimes in life, you come across people that change the way you look at life and what you want from it. They come in to your life and create chaos in your heart, mind and especially your brain.

Perhaps that is what makes them so beautiful in our eyes, as Oscar Wilde said, “The very essence of romance is uncertainty”.

“Unexpected intrusions of beauty. This is what life is.”

– Saul Bellow, Herzog

“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

– Marilyn Monroe

Sometimes I do wonder, the person you find beautiful and absolutely irresistible is hardly perfect. In fact it can be quite the opposite! The fact is that love, beauty and emotions are not bound by rules, virtues and personal beliefs. Who I am and whom I choose to love can be very different from each other. But that can be quite disastrous and have serious consequences and yet, it might not seem like much of a deterrent when you find someone to be beautiful.

“Rarely do great beauty and great virtue dwell together.”

– Francesco Petrarca

“The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.”

– Ernest Hemingway

And so, what I find beautiful could certainly be the death of me, it is of little importance when it comes to matters of the heart. Thus, being an eternal optimist I certainly hope that if such a situation arises, that love will find a way to triumph; any and all heartbreaks along the way are risks that will have to be dealt with.

 “True love will triumph in the end—which may or may not be a lie, but if it is a lie, it’s the most beautiful lie we have.”

– John Green

On that note, I would like to ask you all what are your thoughts having read my post? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below as I look forward to reading your views and perspectives. Go ahead and share on what “beautiful” means to you. Also, I am going to go ahead and end this post on “beauty” with a lovely quote and an absolute favourite song of mine. (Enjoy the video, also it has subtitles in English for those of you that do not understand Urdu, make sure to switch them on in Youtube.)

Cheers, your blogger friend Advaita

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

– Albert Einstein

The Runner

She keeps running,

Through my thoughts,

Always on my mind,

She paces herself well,

For she races against time,

She can run a marathon,

One could call it life,

She lives each breath,

As she runs swiftly,

One step at a time,

She runs with passion,

A rhythm in each stride,

Her heartbeats are the music,

And it’s quite a delight,

To watch her feet dance,

Like a cheetah in pursuit,

A predator on the hunt,

She runs like the wind,

And races like the fire,

And to win is her desire,

She likes how the wind,

Flows through her hair,

She likes how the sweat,

Trickles down her pretty face,

Like little drops of rain,

She loves to go running,

Ecstatic when on the move,

All worries left behind,

Only the finish line in sight,

For her life is but a race,

Perhaps she was born to run,

She was a stallion by birth,

Now a mustang on the loose,

A runner one of a kind,

She’s the one setting the pace,

Each day is a marathon,

She runs it with grace,

Against the toughest odds,

As she blazes the roads afoot,

She is the runner; a sight to behold.

Firstly, I would like to apologize for having been away for so long and not having posted anything on WordPress in the past few weeks. I’ve really missed reading all your blogs and hope to catch up with your posts. I hope you’ve all been well!

“To be a poet is a condition, not a profession.”

– Robert Frost

As for me, I’ve just been a bit busy with work but I’m back now! 😁 I wanted to post a while back, but I believe that any post that is rushed and does not feel like an honest conversation wouldn’t be right. So, I decided to wait and let my condition of being a poet compel me to return to writing. Especially with something that would do justice to all those who read my posts.

I really do look forward to reading all your blogs and sharing my thoughts. Hope you all share your thoughts too, as always I look forward to hearing from you all. Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend!

Cheers, your fellow blogger Advaita 😊

Silence / No Regrets

Silence

The meaning of life is in-between the lines,

But the spaces between them are only stories,

Of broken hearts, of unrequited love and lost lovers,

For those ghosts of regrets, and of those countless unspoken words,

Haunt these forlorn lovers’ hearts with their weeping and waning,

Silence was their enemy and they stumbled into their graves themselves,

For they knew not; that believing those proverbs blindly would cost so dearly,

And that some things are not best left unsaid,

It is not the words but silence that kills you,

For the regret in your heart, will slowly desecrate your happiness,

And the silence of your love; will cause you to wither and die.

No Regrets

But telling her she was the one,

The precious sunshine of his life,

That she was an angel,

A blessing in disguise,

He thought she was his poem,

And brought his words to life,

That all signs led him,

Only to her door,

He poured his heart out,

So there remained no doubt,

But alas it wasn’t meant to be,

And it wasn’t silence or regret in the end,

But his own words that were the death of him.

– Advaita Inamdar

Last week, I happened to read a poem or quote on some blog (my apologies, as I can’t recall where :P) that implied that “some things are best left unsaid”. Silence is golden as the proverb goes, but when it comes to the matters of the heart; does it apply? There always two sides to a coin and so as I began thinking, these two poems came out as a result. Of course, here they both result in death; but that’s just me channelling my inner Shakespeare I suppose. 😉

Below are a few quotes that I agree with, that perhaps silence is not the best way forward when it comes to matters of the heart.

“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.”
— C.S. Lewis

“Many times in life I’ve regretted the things I’ve said without thinking. But I’ve never regretted the things I said nearly as much as the words I left unspoken.”
— Lisa Kleypas

But what about the reality, that many people keep their feelings and emotions for someone the care about hidden in the depths of their heart. The truth and love in their heart never finds its way to their lips or in the form of words on paper. They never tell anyone and like some secrets, they take it to the grave with them. But, I feel that is a terrible way to live life. Not knowing, what would’ve happened if you had expressed the truth of your heart despite knowing the consequences.

“If you simply ignored the feeling, you would never know what might happen, and in many ways that was worse than finding out in the first place. Because if you were wrong, you could go forward in your life without ever looking back over your shoulder and wondering what might have been.”
— Nicholas Sparks

But, perhaps I fail to comprehend the logic behind their decisions. Perhaps saying what’s in your heart and mind does have tragic repercussions. You may stand to lose a friend or someone dear to you for life. Because sometimes telling the truth can be like burning a bridge, and once it’s done you cannot cross that bridge ever again.

And so my question to all of you dear friends is this, What do you feel is the best way to deal with matters of the heart? Is it better to be courageous and take the risks to find out what might happen or is our fear of losing someone that keeps us silent more righteous than the need to satisfy our mind’s curiosity and live with no regrets.

What do you think? Where do you stand? Please do share your thoughts and experiences; for I’m always looking forward to reading your views and having some enlightening conversations!

Cheers, your fellow blogger friend Advaita. 🙂

P.S.: I also want to share below two poems that always resonated with me, and are also relevant to my post above.

“In secret we met
In silence I grieve,
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.”
— George Gordon Byron

“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
— Omar Khayyám

Bliss

What joy

would it be;

if I were able to

go to heaven?

What bliss

would feel like;

 if I could

go to heaven?

But you see

there are angels

here on earth too;

You need

pure eyes

to spot them,

You need

to open your heart

to be able to love them,

They came down

upon this earth

to help us cleanse our sins;

they are truly special

for they carry in their hearts

a piece of heaven,

Perhaps one day

I will find a place

in such an angel’s heart;

She will teach me

the meaning

of selfless love;

you see it’s truly an art;

Perhaps

I may never

go to heaven,

nor find a way

into her heart;

But even if

in her thoughts

I could be;

I would find

true bliss

in my heart!

– Advaita Inamdar

Having not posted something over that past two weeks, I would like to apologize for being lost in my own thoughts and gotten busy with the banality of my work. However, I felt like I should share something about what makes me ponder quite often. That is Bliss. What really makes me happy? The answer to that question changes over a period of time is what I’ve come to notice. But how does one achieve bliss?

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be.”
― Joseph Campbell

That quote does make it sound quite simple. But how do I define bliss? What makes me happy is still quite unclear to be honest. I think most of us wonder about this question, “What makes me happy?” And I believe doing whatever is fun makes me happy; it’s just that simple I feel sometimes.

“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”
― Dale Carnegie

But that’s not entirely true, is it? Doing something is fun for a while, but one does get bored with it eventually. That’s the real truth, only thing permanent is change. You can’t have fun all the time and that just sucks big time.

“My God, a moment of bliss. Why, isn’t that enough for a whole lifetime?”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, White Nights

The whole problem stems from the fact that we as humans are never satisfied. The mind always keeps wandering from thought to thought, idea to idea. Perhaps practicing a little meditation is required on a daily basis. Just to calm the turbulent waters that flow through our minds continuously and to find a little peace amongst the chaos of our fast paced lives. Maybe I’ll start meditating everyday from today, let’s see where that takes me.

“It’s good to be just plain happy, it’s a little better to know that you’re happy; but to understand that you’re happy and to know why and how and still be happy, be happy in the being and the knowing, well that is beyond happiness, that is bliss.”
― Henry Miller

So, while this post began as a simple poem it has taken a completely different direction altogether. Being philosophical and pondering about the meaning of life is a bit of an ancestral genetic problem, but I’m going to stop before any of you get bored and run for the hills! 😛

With this post I also wanted to thank all of you my dear fellow bloggers, for all the love you have shown and all the wonderful conversations we have shared over the past four months. When I started my blog exactly 4 months back, I would have never imagined that there would be over 400 people following it and that I would receive 3,250+ views and 1,250+ visitors!

I’m truly thankful for all the love and the fact that all of you take the time to read and share your thoughts with me. I truly appreciate all my blogger friends here, because reading your blogs, comments and thoughts really makes me happy every single time! I’m really happy to have made so many wonderful friends and I look forward to exchanging many more fascinating conversations with all of you in the future too.

Cheers, your bliss seeking blogger friend Advaita 🙂

Human & Humanity (Insaan aur Insaaniyat)

Insaan

Jab insaan hi apna khoon bahaney chala hai,

Dilon ko samjhne ki umeed kiss se karu?

Jab insaan hi apne dil ko dafan kar chala hai,

– Advaita

Translation:

Human

When man is out to spill his own blood,

Who shall I expect will understand the hearts?

When man has only buried his heart,

Who shall I expect the love from?

When man is only out there spraying bullets,

Who shall I expect will shed tears like the rain?

When man is only running towards his death,

Who shall I expect to live?

When man has only forgotten the path of God,

Who shall I expect prayers from?

Insaaniyat

Kabhi deewaron aur zanjeeron ke aage bhi dekh,

Tu insaaniyat hi bhul gaya hai;

Kabhi khud se puch aur zara aine mein dekh,

Tu insaan hokar bhi insaaniyat se dushman kar gaya hai!

– Advaita

Translation:

Humanity

Dare to look beyond the walls and chains,

You have forgotten what it means to be human;

Take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself,

Despite being a human, you have become an enemy of humanity!

In the wake of recent events, be it in my country or globally there seems to be an increase in violence and bloodshed. Be it the unrest and curfew in Kashmir, the attacks in France, the bombings in Pakistan or the constant war like situations arising in the Middle East. It really gives rise to many questions in my mind. Has man forgotten what it means to be humane? Has humanity lost its capacity for compassion? Has the human race lost its way in this self created chaos? So, I went looking for hope and a few words from the wise. Below are a few pearls of wisdom.

Lost & Found

With every single bloody tear she shed,

In place of love, sorrow she bred,

With a broken heart inside she bled,

She wept and wept, till all her pain fled,

Dreams became better, and free from dread,

Slowly the chaos cleared in her head,

They all did see, all those who thought she was dead,

That she sailed out of the storm, and came out ahead,

She may have lost her love in the ocean,

But in the end, she found herself instead.

Dreamgirl / Meri Mehbooba

She is cute as a penguin and cold as Antarctic ice,

I’m afraid that the sun might just melt her real nice,

The heat and all the sweat, has her prone to fainting,

The sweat and all the warmth, could ruin my painting,

I’m glad she’s not just a picture but indeed a reality,

I’m really quite smitten by her loving sweet personality,

She’s like the smell of fresh raspberries and sweet peaches,

She’s probably even prettier than all those sandy beaches,

Though I haven’t met her yet, I tell you she’s a real delight,

My plan is to someday, get on that nonstop flight,

Because I can’t wait to see her and have her in my arms,

I’d make her swoon to the music and all my seductive charms,

I’d hold her real tight in my hulk like embrace,

She’d know exactly what’s to happen is a disgrace,

Letting passion take over and begin that slow rhythmic dance,

For the night is young and awaiting for us to take a chance,

For you in me and me in you are just reflections people would see,

Two lovers meeting, for a moment fleeting, we’ve waited an eternity!

True Lovers

Aksar mohabbat hojaati hai logon ko kagaz se,

Par sach toh yeh hai;

Ke jazbaat toh kaid hai uss syahi mein,

Jiska asli pyaar toh woh kalam hai;

Jo khud se judaa kar uss syahi ko,

Kagaz par ek dastaan bana gaya.

– Advaita

Translation in English:

Often people fall in love with the paper,

But the truth is;

That the emotions are imprisoned in the ink,

Whose true love is that pen;

Which parted the ink from itself,

And left a fairytale upon the paper!

– Advaita Continue reading “True Lovers”

A way back into Love

I cannot assure you,

that I can make your wounds and scars disappear;

However I can assure,

that I shall try to create better memories;

That makes life a much more pleasant journey,

For we are but love trapped in these vessels;

And whenever we empty them,

we only make more place for love to fill us again.

Advaita
